The Rocky Ford Baptist Church pastor search committee unanimously and wholeheartedly recommends that the church call Rev. Wayne Bragg as the church’s pastor during a meeting called exclusively for that purpose for Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020. The church will have the opportunity to hear Wayne preach in view of a call in the 11 a.m. worship service, and the called business meeting will follow the worship service.
When Wayne and his wife Casse (pronounced KAYsee) came to know Jesus as their Savior as young adults, they surrendered to Him as Lord of their lives. The Holy Spirit quickly instilled in Wayne an urgent need to bring others as lost as he had been to the One who had transformed
his life. Wayne soon felt the Lord’s call into full-time Christian ministry, and he began looking for ways to grow in his knowledge of the ministry, completing a bachelor’s degree at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also has an associate’s degree in information technology from
the University of Phoenix. Soon the Holy Spirit confirmed his call to ministry by opening the doors to Dry Branch Baptist Church, where he served as pastor for more than two years. During that time the average attendance at the church more than doubled from 15-20 in 2016 to 45-50 in 2018, and many came to know the Lord as their Savior.
Then he and Casse responded to the call to return to the couple’s home church, Pineora Baptist, as student pastor and associate pastor. Over nearly another two years, Wayne led a period of growth in the church’s youth program, bringing young people to Christ through special events and activities and beginning to disciple them. He also developed, trained and led an evangelism team that multiplied his calling to witness to lost people. Through special events, training and regular visitation, the evangelistic outreach of the church grew. Wayne contributed to the church’s vitality, too, through his responsibility for Sunday School growth, curriculum and
Always looking for new ways to encourage others in their Christian ministry, Wayne currently serves as vice moderator for the Middle Baptist Association and is a strong supporter of missions at the church, associational, North American and international levels.
Wayne, 30, and Casse have three sons: Cason, 7; Lucas, 4; and Hudson, 1. “Cason and Lucas are typical brothers who hang out and play with each other and also argue and fight every day,” Wayne says. “Hudson wants to be able to play with the bigger kids, but he mostly loves to play outside.”
Wayne enjoys fishing and hunting. But his real passions are fishing for lost people and hunting for opportunities to serve the Lord.
